Tips 4 Ways to Curb Cravings by Diana Simmons

Ways to curb cravings We all fight with those pesky cravings. I have compiled a list on how to combat some of those cravings so that we are not derailed on our path to success.

Eat an egg for breakfast. People who eat an egg for breakfast feel more full than those who at a bagel. This is because the simple carbohydrates in a bagel, breakdown into sugar quickly.

Relax - when you get stressed out your body secrets a hormone called cortisol. This hormone creates food cravings as well as inhibiting your body’s ability to burn fat. To minimize the havoc this hormone can reek on your body, move from a stressed state to a relaxed state as quickly as possible. . Stay away from simple carbs and processed foods When you eat simple carbs, it causes a spike in your blood sugar level which is then followed by a dramatic drop. This causes two things to happen, first, you “crash”, you feel that all of your energy has been sucked out and you have nothing left to give. Second, your body craves that quick fix again and will respond by making you want to eat foods that are filled with simple carbs. To combat this cycle, begin eating foods that are complex carbs or whole grains, this will sustain you for longer periods of time and get rid of the up and down cycle.

Wait it out - most cravings will pass in about 20 minutes. Find a way to keep busy and the time will pass quickly. Some things you could to are: Call a friend Dance to your favorite music (good cardio too) Go for a walk Read a good book Hold an ice cube in your hand until it melts

Using the tips I have given you will help you combat those pesky cravings and propel you on your path to success. Remember to be patient with yourself and have fun.
